BYHP (Tackling Root Causes of Youth Homelessness)

BYHP supports young people aged 13–25 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness due to trauma, family breakdown and unstable living arrangements. The charity works across Banbury and the wider Cherwell area, one of the most deprived parts of Oxfordshire.

The project provides two linked strands of support to tackle homelessness before it becomes entrenched. The first is one-to-one counselling delivered by trauma-informed practitioners, helping young people manage mental health challenges while navigating housing instability. The second strand focuses on early-intervention wellbeing support, offering practical and emotional help with routines, relationships and access to services.

Our funding has supported this integrated approach, helping to reach around 250 young people. It has helped them avoid long wait times and ensure they can get the depth and quality of support they need.

Talking to someone here made it feel like I wasn’t completely on my own. I don’t think I’d still be in school if I hadn’t come to BYHP.
