Winchester & District Young Carers
Winchester & District Young Carers (WDYC) works with children and young people aged 8–17 who provide care for a family member with a long-term illness, disability, mental health condition or addiction. Each year, the charity supports more than 150 young carers through a structured programme designed to address the social, emotional and practical impact of their caring roles.
Our funding has contributed to WDYC’s Exploration and Activities Programmes. The Exploration Programme focuses on emotional wellbeing, resilience and peer connection through themed group sessions. These cover topics such as understanding caring responsibilities, managing emotions and building self-esteem. The Activities Programme provides regular opportunities for young carers to take part in sports, creative activities, cooking and outdoor experiences, helping them develop skills, confidence and friendships.
