Basingstoke and District Young Carers
Our funding has supported Basingstoke and District Young Carers to deliver their Respite Recharge programme for young carers aged 8 to 18. This initiative offers regular evening sessions during term time, along with holiday activities, day trips, and residential opportunities. The programme takes place at a newly secured venue specifically designed for youth provision, featuring safe and adaptable indoor and outdoor spaces including a garden and sports courts.
Sessions are delivered by a dedicated youth team and supported by volunteers and older peer mentors. Activities focus on building confidence, encouraging friendships, and promoting emotional wellbeing. Workshops also introduce valuable life skills, with external providers helping broaden the learning experience.
Our respite activities and youth clubs empower young carers to develop confidence, build friendships, and envision a brighter future, all while enjoying moments of fun and laughter with their peers.
