A moment to join in

Basingstoke and District Young Carers is supporting a 10-year-old young carer. Her mother has both physical and medical complexities and, as an only child, most of the practical and emotional caregiving falls to her. Recently, her mother suffered a serious fall that led to a prolonged hospital admission, including time in a coma. This has left the young carer dealing with overwhelming responsibilities, anxiety, and emotional strain.

We have funded her place on a PGL residential trip with her primary school. This opportunity allows her to take part in an experience many of her peers will enjoy, giving her time away from her caregiving role and a chance to have fun and build confidence. Our funding ensures she can attend and feel included, supported, and uplifted during a difficult time at home.
