Shine Bright Long Term Funding

Grants for charities delivering innovative, long-term solutions that support vulnerable young people, aged 18 years old and under, aligned to our prioritised themes.

We aim to support organisations and initiatives that help future-proof the lives of children, focusing on solutions to the root causes of disadvantage. Applicants are encouraged to present bold and innovative approaches that address the systemic issues connected to abuse, addiction, homelessness and caring responsibilities — not just the symptoms.

Who should apply?

• Grants are available for £60,000 over two years (£30,000 per year)
• Grants are offered on an unrestricted basis
• Applicants must be from a registered UK charity
• Applicants must have a turnover of under £1.5m
• Applicants are welcome to apply to multiple programmes
• Applicants can reapply once three years have passed since receiving a grant

Shine Bright Long Term Pillars and Focus Areas

ABUSE

• Services for survivors of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse inc. online
• Early intervention and safeguarding initiatives
• Therapeutic and trauma-informed care
• Advocacy and support for young victims

ADDICTION

• Support for young people affected by their own or family members’ substance misuse and other addictions
• Prevention and education programmes targeting substance abuse
• Access to counselling, rehabilitation, and recovery services for young people
• Peer support networks and mentoring for affected youth

CHILD CARERS

• Respite and wellbeing services for young carers
• Practical and emotional support
• Educational provision to ensure young carers are not left behind
• Programmes to reduce isolation and improve mental health
• Skill-building and future planning support

HOMELESSNESS

• Practical support for daily stability
• Support for young people in emergency and temporary accommodation and children’s homes run by local authorities
• Assistance for displaced children (e.g. refugees)
• Crisis fund support to provide immediate and direct assistance for young people in emergency and temporary accommodation
