The Marsh Community Centre Charitable Company
The Marsh Community Centre works with vulnerable young people aged 8–18 living on the Marsh estate and surrounding West End area of Lancaster, one of the most deprived communities in the UK. Many of the young people supported are affected by poverty, poor mental health, family instability and exposure to addiction.
The centre delivers open-access and targeted youth sessions, alongside one-to-one mentoring and wellbeing activities. These services provide safe spaces, trusted adult support and activities such as creative workshops, sports and wellbeing sessions. It’s rooted in long-term, trusted relationships, enabling engagement with young people who would not use mainstream services.
Our funding has supported a year-round programme of youth work and early-intervention activity, reaching an estimated 60 to 80 young people. This includes those attending weekly sessions as well as young people taking part in holiday and outreach activities.
Without this project, many young people will continue to fall through the gaps, missing out on the early help and trusted relationships they need to thrive.
