Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service

Location

Kent

Rising Sun aims to provide a safe future for survivors of domestic abuse. It provides specialist services for children and young people affected by domestic abuse in East Kent. They work with young people aged 5–24, offering bespoke support at every stage of their journey, from those currently in crisis and high-risk situations to those living with the traumatic impact of what they have experienced.

Our funding has contributed to Rising Sun’s Children and Young People’s (CYP) Counselling Service. The therapeutic service is trauma-informed and flexible, allowing counsellors to tailor sessions to individual needs and level of emotional readiness. The use of play and creative therapies allows younger survivors to engage at their own pace, even when they cannot yet talk about what they have experienced.

It is vital that children who have experienced abuse can access services that can specifically meet their needs, ensuring that no child is left alone without support.
